As the VP, Engineering, you will be a strategic leader, driving the progression of H&B Technology. Your role will be instrumental in aligning our technology capabilities with our company strategy, fostering innovation, promoting scalability, and helping us build the future of health and wellness tech. 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

Leadership and Team Management: 

  • Display strong leadership skills in managing software engineering managers and empowering engineering teams.
  • Drive and execute the technology strategic direction for Buyer Experience Online squads, focusing on omnichannel capabilities and specific online products.
  • Manage and mentor team members, ensuring their professional growth and development.
  • Cultivate a high-performing team culture centered around accountability, positive customer impact, and business improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with Product & Data teams for effective problem-solving and alignment of product and engineering outcomes across various teams.

Software/Systems Design & Development: 

  • Foster an Engineering Excellence culture and establish relevant support and frameworks for the teams' success.
  • Establish a framework for design reviews, service reviews, common capabilities, and best practices across the teams to enhance performance.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies to drive innovation for the business and customers.
  • Establish and own the domain's technical strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and InfoSec requirements.
  • Encourage teams to architect and build solutions efficiently, promoting cross-team collaboration and avoiding repetitive work.
  • Drive cross-functional plans for delivery, continuous improvement, and operational support while managing budget constraints.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: 

  • Provide essential knowledge to engineering teams across squads to develop valuable solutions.
  • Promote cross-departmental collaboration and establish stable processes for optimal product solutions.
  • Communicate delivery dates and functionality effectively to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business and technical leaders to communicate the technology roadmap and deliverables' costs.
  • Foster a best-in-class product culture and facilitate team growth and development.
  • Build productive relationships within squads, empowering team members for overall company success.

 

Key requirements:

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Engineering, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality technology solutions by building highly empowered teams.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of best engineering practices.
  • Data-driven decision-making.

Skills and Experience: 

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and product-led ways of working.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing large, complex teams.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Deep understanding of software complexity, architecture, and modern engineering methodologies.
  • Previous experience as a line manager with direct reports, serving as a role model for work ethic and accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to propose well-structured, data-informed solutions to challenging problems with multiple constraints.
