Role Overview:
As an Azure Cloud Platform Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Azure Cloud Platform Team. Your primary responsibility will be to drive technology change and support business transformation by managing IT services, components, and integrations hosted on the Azure public cloud platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and uphold Azure public cloud platform standards where applicable.
Ensure compliance with Azure public cloud platform standards.
Assess, integrate, and adopt planned changes to the Azure public cloud platform.
Deliver changes to the Azure public cloud platform.
Handle patch assessment, acceptance, integration, and adoption for the Azure public cloud platform.
Manage maintenance release and update assessment, acceptance, integration, and adoption for the Azure public cloud platform.
Implement a shift-left approach to empower 1st and 2nd line support and IT operations to provide effective support and minimize the use of 3rd line for the Azure public cloud platform.
Offer 3rd line support for the Azure public cloud platform during operational hours and out-of-hours through an on-call structure.
Identify opportunities for improvement in the Azure cloud platform and the Azure cloud platform team, including skills, knowledge, tooling, and automation.
Represent the Azure cloud platform in business and technology forums to educate stakeholders, challenge assumptions when necessary, and assess the impact of planned changes.
Collaborate with the Azure Lead Cloud Platform Manager and peer colleagues as part of a leadership group to provide an efficient IT service management and operations capability for the group.
Essential Experience and Skills:
- Performing CI/CD with the use of Azure DevOps(ADO) Tooling
- Enterprise level experience providing support of cloud technology infrastructure.
- Public cloud offerings across PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS.
- Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- IT service management principles
- Identification of required change and ability to communicate with delivery leads to ensure appropriate prioritisation.
- Azure best practices (CAF)
- Technology support experience including several from:
- Terraform
- Monitoring tools and dashboards
- Service availability along with Disaster recovery
- Message bus, file transfer, API
- Firewalls / NSG / ASG
- Azure AD with knowledge of IAM/RBAC
- Knowledge of KQL
Technology Experience:
Public cloud networks.
Virtual servers and operating systems.
Storage, backup, restore, and archive solutions.
Middleware and integration technologies (message bus, file transfer, API).
Security measures, including firewalls, intrusion prevention, data loss protection, encryption at rest/in transit.
Management tools and dashboards.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
Previous involvement in delivering technology infrastructure changes in a large retail or ecommerce enterprise utilizing public cloud technologies.
Familiarity with Azure products and services.
