Technology teams in the UK work closely with our global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. They also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.
Role Description:
Strategic Services and IT COO are the core central Technology teams responsible for the operations, and strategic transformation, of HSBC Technology. They provide strategic direction, transformation and operational oversight over a c. $7bn annual budget, for 50k+ Tech professionals and 9k+ applications.
The Stakeholder Engagement Manager will be responsible for shaping and delivering the communication and engagement agenda, stakeholder management, and people initiatives in service of Strategic Services & IT COO (c. 2,000 people).
Working closely with the Technology Operations Director, Head of Business Management and Global Head of Strategic Services and IT COO, the incumbent will define and execute a communications and engagement Roadmap which unites and connects individuals within those functions as ‘one team’.
They will also work to ensure the continuation and success of a number of internal People programmes, including Learning, Training & Development, providing opportunities and enabling our people to fulfil their career ambitions.
They will be expected to drive some of their work agenda through the creation of Working Groups across the functions, connecting resources who possess a passion for Stakeholder Management.
The role holder will build strong, collaborative relationships with a number of stakeholders at all levels including the Global Head of Strategic Services & IT COO and his leadership team, as well across the Strategic Services and IT COO teams.
Responsibilities:
Communications and Engagement
· Pivotal role in creating a sense of community and belonging amongst Architecture resources across Technology, some of which are embedded within other teams, increasing engagement for staff through targeted, meaningful and consistent activity.
· Shapes and delivers communications and engagement plan and ensures that it connects back to and compliments the broader Bank and Technology comms calendar.
· Assists the Head of Architecture and his Exco in creating and disseminating high quality, clear and engaging content for a range of key stakeholders.
· Drives the agenda and organisation for forums including All Hands calls, Town Halls, Employee exchanges, and any others as appropriate.
Training & Development
· Support the leadership team in driving the Training & Development Strategy forward
· Engage the organisation to ensure continued pipeline into, and finalise content for, programmes such as Athena and Principal Architect Programme
· Oversee creation, maintenance and communication of Learning Pathways for the Technology Architecture community
People & Culture
· Support Operations Director in the agenda to ensure we have a happy, healthy, balanced and psychologically safe workforce. This includes but not limited to:
o Diversity and Inclusion – represent the department at, and connect with, various D&I forums across Technology
o Mobility – support the agenda to encourage cross-pollination of architects across Technology
o Talent – creation of forums to identify and manage talent across the organisation
o Psychological Safety – ensure the concept is widely understood and work towards embedding into the culture of the organisation
Collaboration and Networking
· Represents Technology Architecture at key committees and forums for e.g., Technology Engagement Network and collaborates and establishes close links across the group, regions and the broader bank to ensure sharing of best practice and consistent approach where appropriate.
· Drive forward positive change across the organisation through informal leadership over a network of colleagues who contribute to comms and engagement – engage and energise this community to support the Stakeholder management agenda
