As an experienced Registered Nurse from the NHS or private sector, you'll join the team at Gardens & Jacobs as the head of department to lead, manage the night staff and clinical welfare of the residents in one of the wards within Jacobs and Gardens neurological Centre.

What you will be doing

As the Head Of Department you will join a supportive multi-disciplinary team that works well together in caring for people of all ages who are living with neurological and long-term conditions, including those living with physical disabilities and recovering from traumatic injuries, and providing a high level of personal and rehabilitative care.

You will lead the department alongside your therapy colleagues to deliver the individual care each person needs while maintaining accurate records.   

The service is a 24/7 environment. The position is full-time (Monday to Friday), working the occasional weekend to provide senior cover for the whole centre.

You will join our teams that support people who have complex rehabilitation needs such as tracheostomies / ventilated / peg feeds and who have extensive and long-term rehabilitation goals. You will be working closely with a range of internal and external services including wheelchair, speech, the local trust and funding providers.

  • Management experience and /or demonstrated ability to manage a team.
  • Effective communication skills and proven ability to work effectively

Where you will be working

Gardens Neurological Centre and Jacobs Neurological Centre have a combined total of 132 beds on the same site in Sawbridgeworth (CM21 0HH), which is on the Hertfordshire and Essex border within easy travelling distance of London and Cambridge.

The two Centres deliver specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-term neurological conditions, and brain or spinal injuries who require ongoing support and assistance to maximise functional ability.

Each service has communal lounges, dining rooms, and all bedrooms have en-suite facilities with over 95% on single occupancy. All rooms are adapted to each resident's requirements according to their assessments and needs.
