The Opportunity:

Delivering high quality audits is a priority for EY. Our long-established Audit Quality Team continues to expand and evolve. To ensure we effectively deliver on our key strategic initiatives in our financial services business, we have created a new role reporting directly to the UK Financial Services Quality Enablement Leader.

Your Key Responsibilities:

This is a senior role in the Audit Quality Team and has therefore been graded as a Technical Director position with an expectation that the candidate, in addition to delivering on the expectations specific to this role, will also contribute significantly to the future strategic direction of the quality program. Consequently, we are interested in leaders with a genuine creative vision and the confidence to make it happen.

Skills and attributes for success:

  • The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation including senior leadership and governance bodies
  • The role will be expected to develop suitable training material on new and emerging areas and to train all levels of staff and also act as a coach and advisor to audit teams on audit quality matters.
  • Cooperation with the wider EY network on audit methodology and audit approaches will be an integral part of the role as well as input into the development of standardised audit work papers with a focus on automation.
  • In addition to these key responsibilities the role will have responsibility to support the wider audit quality team across a broad spectrum of initiatives.

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • ACA/ CA/ ACCA (ICAEW, ICAS, Irish Institute or equivalent international qualification)
  • Extensive experience in external audit or a similar environment
  • Experience liaising with clients on audit quality and have a passion for driving efficient and effective audit approaches in complex areas such as climate, IFRS 9 and fair value.
  • Experience or knowledge of the UK and other regulatory environments is essential.

What we look for:
We are interested in leaders with a genuine creative vision and the confidence to make it happen. You can expect plenty of autonomy in this role, and if you are serious about making a difference and ready to take on some of our most important initiatives, this role is for you.
