As an Occupational Therapy Assistant from the NHS or private sector, you'll join the team at Chadwick Lodge and provide support and time, individually and in group settings, to a range of patients on a named ward or area

You will assist Occupational Therapists, Primary Nurses and other MDT staff in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual care plans working across boundaries of care, the organisation.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with individuals to promote their recovery & enhance social inclusion. The role will have a significant social & recreational element, which will require the development of effective therapeutic relationships & will include some out of hours working.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To work as part of the Occupational Therapy Department allocated to a specific named ward.
  • To assist Occupational Therapists, Primary Nurses and other MDT staff in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual care plans.
  • To work in conjunction with other OTAs to develop a hospital-wide out of hours structured activity programme
  • To assist in delivering a high standard of support and care to patients and their carer’s, promoting their equality, dignity and mental wellbeing at all times.
  • To work with individuals to facilitate access and engagement in a range of activities, working across boundaries of care and organisations.
  • To ensure that patients understand and are assisted to engage in pathways of care across sector/agency boundaries.
  • To work with patients to achieve their identified goals and access appropriate services provided on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Positively promote rehabilitation towards independent living.
  • To provide support with “activities of daily living”; this may involve practical help, emotional/psychological support, and assistance with any difficulties that may arise.
  • To develop a rapport within appropriate and transparent boundaries.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • GCSE/O-Levels (A-C) or a relevant NVQ2
  • Previous experience within a relevant healthcare environment and/or similar role
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy
  • An interest and/or experience in recreational and vocational activities, such as music, art, sports, education and cooking would be advantageous
