Join us in this work, and you could find a challenge like no other.As a member of the Immigration System Statistics and Refugees Analysis & Insights team, you will play a vital role in enhancing the work of colleagues who are handling varied migration issues. Joining either the Asylum team or the Safe & Legal Routes team, you will manage a small group of analysts in their day-to-day activities, providing inspirational leadership as you nurture their capabilities and maintain oversight of complex projects. The statistics that your team produce will underpin high-profile decisions and a great deal of media reporting, so it is essential that you are confident in the quality of what is being produced. You will therefore identify and analyse key trends, and deliver robust information and insight that will enable analytical, operational and policy colleagues to go further in their work. Working with large datasets to identify and present data trends for a variety of audiences, you will produce tables, charts and written reports that clearly present technical concepts in an easily understood way, and you will be share knowledge across the Government so that the most effective solutions can be identified.Ensuring we have the evidence we need to make informed decisions and develop new products that meet user needs, your analyses will be the foundation on which public debate is based – so this is a fantastic opportunity to become a subject matter expert that will have a great degree of visibility across numerous government departments and teams. To be equal to these interesting roles, you will therefore either be an existing badged member of the GSG, or you will have either a higher degree in a subject that contains a formal statistical training element or at least two years of experience working in a statistical or data science field. Crucially you will have great people-management skills, be an effective communicator who is comfortable working at pace, and your influencing skills will be matched by a can-do attitude.In turn we can offer you a hybrid working environment with a minimum of 60% of your time in the office, and compressed hours can also be requested.
