Join us and take the next step towards a fulfilling career. About the role We are currently recruiting for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our electrical design team. As a Principal Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for the delivery of the electrical design content of water industry projects, whilst leading a multi-disciplinary design team. Projects will typically include water and wastewater; infrastructure and non-infrastructure works design. This will include design delivery at all stages, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed designs for construction, determining the best solutions for pumping stations, treatment works, mechanical screening, chemical dosing systems, sludge handling systems etc. and the production of detailed electrical design packages for construction. This is a permanent opportunity and will be of hybrid nature with both home working and working from one of our regional offices. What will your day look like Develop effective concept design solutions that are consistent with the project brief. Undertake a wide range of design work on all aspects of the functions design and maintenance. Implement effective, value for money and innovative design solutions to meet technical and project requirements. Maintain high technical standards, consistent with the project brief. Process projects through preliminary and detailed design with particular emphasis on client requirements and innovation. Liaise with clients and ensure their requirements are effectively communicated to the team. Check and approve engineering designs, calculations, and oversee drawing production. Check and approve contract documents and scheme cost estimates. Check and approve technical documents and reports and assist in the preparation of expressions of interest and tenders. Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM regulations. Management of a team of engineers including senior engineers, engineers, assistants, senior technicians, technicians, and graduate engineers. About you Ability to produce, check and approve detailed electrical design outputs for complex plant. An excellent working knowledge of sewage and clean water processes Ability to develop good practical engineering solutions. Good knowledge of civil and mechanical works. A team player and communicator who can manage a design from start to finish including site support to our project managers and construction team whilst working on his or her own initiative. Strong knowledge of BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Ability to produce electrical and instrumentation design drawings and specifications.
