Senior/Design Manager My client isnational refurbishment contractor in the roofing, cladding & glazing sector.

They Specialisiein live build environments, such as PBSA, stadia, and commercial real estate. Theydeliveran unrivalled construction experience through fire remediation, faade, and roofing expertise, supported by a nationwide Small Works team.

Role To work on a total design solution specific to each project. This will be done by ensuring compliance to clients recommendations/requirements and company procedures. Will be responsible for tasks relating to the project, instructed, and reporting to the Head of Design/Technical.

The main duties of the role are as follows:

Managing a design team. Managing the design process using his/her commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise. Managing external sub-contractors that are relevant to design ie 3D scans/structural engineers/thermal engineers/acoustic engineers. Driving the project design forward and presenting potential solutions to issues that arise. Setting up and chairing meetings Ensuring regulatory compliance Preparation and monitoring of design programmes and monitoring deliverables Sketching and proposing technical solutions Supporting, understanding, and advising the client as to the requirements and his/her obligations in the development of a building design. Encouraging and inspiring designers to produce their best work using their full flair, experience, resources, and talents in a cost-effective way. Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards, and codes of practice, where appropriate. Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales. Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction. Checking take-offs prior to ordering

Knowledge and Skills

Extensive knowledge of faade design, CWCT, Building Regulations and other legislation. A creative dynamic individual who is both adaptive and proactive to tackle design challenges as they arise. A candidate should have experience with the following list: Cavity Barriers Glazing Curtain Walling Architectural metal work Cladding Render Steel Frame Systems Flashings and Bracketry Windows and Doors AOVs and Louvres

Education / Experience

Candidate

+10 years of facades experience You will have a degree, HND or equivalent, ideally in a design or construction related subject. You will have high standards of numeracy, oral and written communication skills and be able to demonstrate a capability to organise and prioritise workloads effectively and on own initiative. Membership to a professional body is desirable not essential.
