Power Capacitors Ltd have an exciting opportunity for a
Site Services Engineer
to join the team.
Location: Birmingham, UK
Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 76.5 hours across two weeks (working externally as a Site Services Engineer)
Hours: 39 hours per week (if working internally as a Panel Builder)
Site Services Engineer (External)
- The Role:
To meet any sitework requirements initiated by the sales team. The Site Services Engineer role is paid monthly with different working hours across two weeks…
Week One - Monday to Friday (8am - 5pm) with a 30 minutes unpaid lunch totalling 42.5 hours.
Week Two - Monday to Thursday (8am - 5pm) with a 30 minutes unpaid lunch totalling 34 hours.
This role will also require travel five days a week with time away from home and overnight stays.
Site Services Engineer (External)
- Key Responsibilities:
- Assembly, wiring and testing of capacitor equipment
- It is highly likely that this role will require a period of time dedicated to training in the workshop to ensure the candidate is familiar with the nature of the products they will maintain/service
- Installing, maintaining, repairing and servicing equipment supplied to customers on and off site
- Testing and commissioning of equipment on site
- Carry out 7-day harmonic/load surveys and complete relevant reports
- Take photos of any works carried out to the equipment worked on
- Complete appropriate paperwork and send to the Site Services Administration Team with photos
- Evaluate customer requirements and discuss these with the client and Sales Team if necessary
- Prepare and administer site-services documentation including recommendations for both repair, replacement and installation requirements. Any non-conformances should be identified and reported as necessary
- Before any job, always ensure the components issued comply with the sales order documentation provided and the product specification
- Establish and maintain a good relationship with customers
- Offer technical support to both customers and potential customers
- Maintain a safe working environment and comply with the health and safety regulations
- Liaise regularly with the Sales Team to keep updated with upcoming work, and to inform them of your progress with current work
- Maintain your company vehicle to a high standard of cleanliness/presentation, and regularly check the vehicle for any faults/damage and, if necessary, report these to the Operations Manager as soon as possible
- Provide the Site Services Administration Team with any receipts for expenses incurred whilst working away from home/staying in Company provided accommodation, etc. Employees are provided with a Company credit card to service these expenses. Receipts should be submitted in a timely fashion
- Ensure the van is stocked with agreed levels of necessary equipment
- Familiarity with the Company Documented Quality System - in particular, but not exclusively, the documents and procedures relating to Site Services and Non-Conformances
Panel Builder (Internal if Required)
- The Role:
The Panel Builder will typically work Monday to Thursday 8am - 5pm and 8am - 1pm on Friday totalling 39 hours.
Panel Builder (Internal if Required)
- Key Responsibilities:
- Assembly, wiring and testing of capacitor equipment within expected timeframes, compliant with DQS protocols
- Ensure manufactured product complies with the specification of the works order
- Liaise with Warehouseman to ensure the right equipment has been “picked” for the job
- Liaise with the Operations Manager to ensure the correct stock or tools is provided
- Administer and implement consistent manufacturing procedures
- Familiarity with the Company Documented Quality System
- Comply with all Health and Safety requirements
- Work as a team and assist the other Panel Builders/Wiremen with their builds, to ensure high quality products are manufactured at all times
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with all
Site Services Engineer & Panel Builder
- You:
- Panel Building experience essential (e.g., switchgear, not “fine-wiring” such as telephone/alarm systems)
- City & Guilds Parts l, ll & lll in Electrical Installation Work or equivalent
- City & Guilds BS7671: 1992 Requirements for Electrical Installations (IEE Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition)
- Appropriate Joint Industry Board (JIB)/ECS card (Gold Electrician card or Field Engineer related discipline card)
- CCNSG Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Safety Passport
- Desirably a successfully completed electrical apprenticeship lasting at least four years
- Previous employment in a similar role would be preferable
- Experience working in line with H&S regulations
- Familiarity with MS-Office Suite desirable
