Job Title: Fire Design Engineer Location: Warrington Type: Permanent (agile working/site & office based role) Salary: Competitive plus package A leading Tier 1 main contractor is seeking to appoint a Fire Design Engineer to contribute positively to project deliverability across the region. As an expert in Integrated Fire systems, you will act as the main point of contact for subcontract designers and develop scoping technical specifications to reflect your visits and 3d scans. As such, there will be regular travel across unique project sites in NW. This progressive firm will aid the deliverables of your role with support from existing design team members and a Head of Design. You will be joining a leading contractor with an order book of over £2bn giving ample confidence in job security. Responsibilities: • Develop technical specifications based on site visits and 3D scans, collaborating closely with subcontractor design teams to refine scope of works. • Evaluate subcontractor prices and specifications for completeness, quality, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. • Complete Tender TQs and manage the Tender TQ register during this period. • Assist project/tendering teams in producing technical documentation for inquiries or orders. • Ensure adherence to design processes and procedures in the office and on-site. • Determine client requirements, propose appropriate solutions, and work towards value-engineered designs. • Produce design documentation such as Detector Layouts, Zone Drawings, Cause & Effects, Loop Layouts, Loop Schematics, Fire Stopping Details, Panel Layouts, Battery Calculations, and Fire Strategies. • Contribute information to Design Management Plan, Design Programme, and other design quality deliverables. • Review, check, and approve technically correct Design Deliverables produced in line with the design programme. • Provide information to the Head of Design related to design changes or additional works & ensure effective handover to relevant manager(s). What we require from you: • 3 years' experience as a Fire Design Engineer (essential) • Degree qualification or equivalent ONC/HNC/B. Eng or NVQ equivalent in Construction or Design Engineering. • Hands-on experience for meticulous system power design. • Demonstrated capability in producing URS and FDS documents to align with client briefs and specifications. • Technologically savvy with experience utilising AutoCAD • In-depth understanding of fire equipment and devices. (essential) • Proficient in integrated fire systems encompassing Risk Assessment, Suppression, Fire Stopping, Networking and Detection. (essential) • Familiarity with BIM/PAS 1192 standards. • Knowledgeable about CDM regulations and temporary works requirements. • Extensive background in system integration and management systems.
