HIU Engineer in London

Job description

Due to continued growth, we are currently recruiting for an HIU Engineer on behalf of a specialist utility services company who carry out the installation, maintenance, and servicing of heat networks and district heating schemes throughout the UK. Covering theLondon area, the Field Technical Engineer will carry out the installation, commissioning, maintenance and servicing of HIUs, Smart Metering systems and any associated pipework and equipment. The work will cover both new installations and the maintenance and servicing of existing systems and there is therefore a requirement to enter occupied homes.

Role Description Installation, commissioning, service and maintenance of heat network equipment including HIUs, Valves, Meters, PAYG devices & metering systems. Retrofitting of HIUs at residential sites. Problem solving and fault-finding issues on site and liaising with other trades and the main contractor. Carry out the replacement, maintenance and servicing of Heatworks, HIU and heat meters as well as retrofitting Pay-As-You-Go metering systems. Installing and replacing heat meters on district heating networks. Using a laptop and tablet device to commission metering equipment, update records and systems. Liaise with & report to site staff (clients, principle contractors, consultants & heating/plumbing sub-contractors) representing the company whilst at development sites. Installation, commissioning and maintenance of in property heating and cooling controls. Carry out post-installation upgrade/maintenance programmes. Interact with clients & customers on site at developments. Maintain personal equipment & stock of spares/consumables to a level ensuring continuity of service.

Skills & Attributes NVQ level 2/3 in Plumbing and Heating. Recognised Electrical qualification

18th Edition preferred. SMSTS or H&S qualification would be desirable. Previous experience installing, maintaining and servicing HIUs is highly desirable. Must hold CSCS card (or able to get one). First aid training would be desirable. Clean Driving licence Basic DBS Clearance required.
