We have an exciting opportunity for a Powertrain Calibration Engineer to join our team in Birmingham, UK. As a Powertrain Calibration Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the future of hybrid and pure electric powertrains. About the Role: Lead the way in calibration activities for cutting-edge Hybrid and pure electric powertrain projects. Enjoy a high level of autonomy within a small, dynamic team. Engage in hands-on calibration activities covering control systems and supporting chassis and powertrain rig-level tests. Lead the calibration process to meet project deliverables, using a methodical and pragmatic approach to balance performance, energy consumption, NVH, and driveability attributes. Develop core calibration methods for new hybrid/EV powertrain systems. Support control system and software integration in powertrain systems, analyzing calibration results to identify improvements and generate engineering change requests. Requirements: Hold a degree in Mechanical, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent education. Proven post-graduate experience in Powertrain calibration with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier. Exhibit production-level knowledge in developing and calibrating Hybrid powertrain systems, including energy management, automatic transmission control (TCU), Engine control (EMS), and vehicle systems (ABS/ESP). Have extensive knowledge and competences in calibration processes and methodologies. Understand Software strategies and Software specifications, including familiarity with MATLAB Simulink format. Boast experience in developing vehicle and powertrain control algorithms. Demonstrate expert working knowledge of automotive calibration tools (ETAS INCA/MDA preferred). Proven ability to cascade vehicle targets to control and calibration. Show a high level of competence in planning and executing testing activities, analyzing data, and reporting findings. Be capable of working under pressure while respecting project timelines. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to overcome cultural barriers. Maintain a good driving record and have experience in vehicle driveability assessment. Exhibit flexibility and a willingness to travel abroad for short periods when necessary. Duties & Responsibilities: Plan and deliver powertrain calibrations, including calibration version management, following our quality processes. Provide support to other teams/departments in powertrain integration. Collaborate closely with control and software engineers to optimize overall system performance and hybrid controllers. Lead vehicle powertrain calibration activities and support dyno testing. Document and report calibration activities, including technical presentations to peers and management. Support calibration trips in Europe and China for environmental calibration tests. Other Features: Must be eligible to work in the UK.
