Senior Configuration Manager Base salary: £40,750 to c.£50,950 depending on skills and experience. The Senior Configuration Manager sits within the Products function and ensures the end-to-end delivery of configuration management services working alongside the business facing platform managers. About the role: Lead the development and maintenance of configuration management strategies, policies, standards, and guidelines to cover configuration design, deployment and refactoring. Plan and lead configuration development and deployment activities for strategic, large and complex deployment projects. Plan and facilitate configuration management audits, ensuring that configuration integrity and coherence is maintained through adherence to policy and standards. Lead software configuration activities for business facing platform, ensuring adoption or adaption of appropriate software configuration methods, tools, and techniques Engage with strategic projects to ensure configuration management can deliver the required configuration management system functionality within the project timeframes Review and approve all changes to the configuration management system infrastructure ensuring that integrity, coherence and traceability are maintained Provide technical review and input into significant IT infrastructure changes to ensure impacts to configuration management data are properly addressed Define requirements, use cases, user stories etc. to support new or improved configuration management system functionality Lead reporting on configuration management Champion the importance and value of configuration management and develops new methods and organisational capabilities (including automation) for configuration management Actively promotes and embeds Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI. About you: Skills: Configuration Management. Able to lead identification, documenting and refactoring of configuration items to maintain integrity and coherence throughout project, system and/or service lifecycle Software configuration. Able to lead designing, verifying, documenting, amending, and refactoring moderately complex software configurations for deployment. Systems development management. Able to plan, estimate, and execute systems development work to time, budget and quality targets. Can also collaborate with stakeholders with a focus on delivering value from systems development. Systems and software life cycle engineering. Able to establish and deploy an environment for developing, continually improving and securely operating software and systems products and services. Supplier management. Ability to align the HS2s supplier performance objectives and activities with sourcing strategies and plans, balancing costs, efficiencies, and service quality. Stakeholder relationship management. Ability to influence stakeholder attitudes, decisions, and actions for mutual benefit. Knowledge: Knowledge of a range of delivery methodologies (e.g., but not limited to waterfall, agile or lean), their implications and how they can be integrated into IT initiative delivery Knowledge of the area of HS2s business facing platforms, and a comprehensive knowledge of each of the services provided Knowledge of multiple software configuration management methodologies and best practices Knowledge of digital information technology, trends, and the opportunities they present Type of Experience: Extensive experience of defining and managing software configuration management processes end-to-end Experience of software configuration management from a delivery and acceptance perspective Experience in understanding users (who they are, what their needs are, how they behave and how they change over time) and support delivery of solutions that meet these needs Experience of forecasting and prioritising cost inside a defined budget Experience of collaborating with or managing suppliers and vendors The post-holder is expected to behave at all times in a manner consistent with the HS2 values of Safety, Leadership, Integrity and Respect It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
