Job Opportunity: Team Leader – Children’s Residential Home
Location: Meldreth, Nr. Royston (Cambridgeshire / Hertfordshire Border)
Contract: Permanent | Part-time – 32 hours per week (Shifts)
Salary: £15.25 - £16.64 per hour (£25,376.00 - £27,688.96 per annum)
Essential Qualification: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Team Leader to join a caring and committed residential team supporting children and young people aged 6–19 with complex needs, including profound communication difficulties, cerebral palsy, autism, and degenerative conditions.
This role is based at a well-established children’s home in Meldreth, offering a supportive and enriching environment where young people can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a stable, safe, and nurturing home environment
- Lead, coach, and support a team of Support Workers and Senior Support Workers
- Oversee the physical and emotional support provided to young residents, including attending health appointments, family visits, and community activities
- Support the induction, mentoring, and training of new team members
- Conduct supervisions, performance reviews, and manage team development
- Ensure effective planning and delegation of daily activities and individual support plans
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation
- Participate in on-call duties, sleep-ins, and waking night shifts as required
- Be prepared to engage in physical intervention and provide personal care when necessary
What We’re Looking For
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in shift/team leading within a care environment
- Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- A genuine passion for improving the lives of young people with complex needs
- Flexibility and willingness to support where needed
