Company Overview
Our client is a dynamic and fast-paced organization tasked with commissioning 3,500
substation switchgear units across the South of England. We are seeking dedicated and
safety-focused 11kV Authorized Persons (APs) to join our team and ensure the safe and
efficient execution of work on live 11kV equipment within the UK Power Networks
(UKPN) framework.
Role Overview
As an 11kV Authorized Person, you will be responsible for the direct execution of tasks
on 11kV equipment, ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with
UKPN’s safety rules and procedures. You will work under the supervision of a Senior
Authorised Person (SAP) to isolate, earth, and prepare equipment for maintenance,
repair, or commissioning activities. This role is critical to the success of our large-scale
substation switchgear commissioning project.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute assigned tasks on 11kV equipment, including isolation, earthing, and switching, in accordance with UKPN safety rules and procedures.
• Ensure all safety measures, such as lockout/tagout and earthing, are correctly implemented and adhered to before, during, and after work.
• Collaborate with the Senior Authorised Person to confirm safe working conditions and compliance with established protocols.
• Conduct pre-work inspections and verify equipment status to ensure a safe environment for maintenance and commissioning activities.
• Follow detailed instructions and procedures accurately to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Report any safety concerns, incidents, or deviations from procedure to the Senior Authorised Person immediately.
• Support the commissioning of 3,500 substation switchgear units, contributing to the timely and safe completion of the project.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including logs of isolations, earthing, and switching operations.
Key Skills and Qualifications
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of UKPN’s safety rules, regulations, and operational procedures for 11kV systems.
• Experience: Proven experience working with 11kV equipment, including isolation, earthing, and switching operations.
• Precision: Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Safety Focus: Commitment to upholding the highest safety standards in a high voltage environment.
• Teamwork: Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a Senior Authorised Person and collaborate with other team members.
• Communication: Clear and concise communication skills to report issues and coordinate with the team.
• Qualifications: Relevant electrical qualifications and 11kV Authorized Person certification (or equivalent) recognized by UKPN.
Working Conditions
• Location: Various sites across the South of England.
• Environment: Work will involve exposure to live 11kV equipment, outdoor substations, and potentially challenging weather conditions.
• Schedule: Full-time, long-term contract with potential for shift work, including weekends and overtime as required to meet project deadlines.
