Job Title: Bid Writer


Location: Hybrid – Blend of company offices, client sites, and remote working

Reporting to: Competitive Bid Management Lead

Function: Competitive Bid Management, Client Account Management Team


About the Role


We are looking for an experienced Bid Writer to join our Competitive Bid Management function, supporting the growth of our UK Public Sector client base. You’ll play a key role in crafting winning proposals for competitive bids, bringing together compelling content that addresses buyer needs and showcases our value. This is a hybrid role that offers a mix of office, client site, and home-based working (note: 100% remote working is not available).


Key Responsibilities


As a Bid Writer, you will:


  • Analyse buyer documentation to understand key requirements, hot buttons, and pain points
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to translate technical content into high-quality, persuasive narrative
  • Review, edit, and refine content written by others to ensure responses are clear, compliant, and compelling
  • Ensure content meets high standards of grammar, structure, and presentation, while adhering to buyer formatting and compliance instructions
  • Develop and apply win themes consistently across the proposal to enhance competitiveness
  • Work closely with bid and capture teams to align messaging with overall bid strategy

Essential Skills and Experience


  • Proven track record in writing high-quality submissions for large and/or complex bids, where written content is a critical factor in success
  • Demonstrable experience in securing public sector contracts, including experience with UK government frameworks
  • Broad technical writing expertise covering areas such as infrastructure, applications, and digital transformation
  • Strong copywriting ability, particularly in simplifying complex subject matter and aligning content with win themes and customer value
  • Capable of coaching junior team members and promoting best practice in bid writing


Desirable Skills


  • APMP certification or equivalent experience in bid/proposal writing methodologies (preferred but not essential)
