Salary: £44,000 - £58,000 DOE


Contract Type: Permanent


Working Arrangement: Hybrid (Minimum 2 Days Office Attendance Per Week)


A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Childcare Lawyer to join a well-established public sector legal team. This role focuses on providing high-quality legal advice on public law children’s matters, including care and adoption proceedings, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and protecting the best interests of clients.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on and conduct proceedings relating to the care and protection of children and young people.
  • Represent the organisation in courts and tribunals, including undertaking advocacy where required.
  • Provide expert legal advice on child protection, public law outline (PLO), care proceedings, and adoption matters.
  • Support clients in negotiations, judicial reviews, and safeguarding issues.
  • Develop and deliver legal training to key stakeholders, enhancing awareness of children’s social care law.
  • Contribute to policy development and legal strategy, supporting best practices within the organisation.


About You:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with experience in public law children’s matters.
  • Strong knowledge of childcare law, care and adoption proceedings, and local government legal frameworks.
  • Ability to handle a complex and sensitive caseload while delivering timely and effective legal support.
  • Advocacy experience is desirable, with the ability to represent clients in courts and tribunals.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience advising and supporting professionals in children’s social care.
