Job description

We are working exclusively with a global pharmaceutical company to secure a Medical Affairs Leader for their groundbreaking ophthalmology portfolio.

This is a pivotal role within their product portfolio and will lead the largest medical team in the organisation. As the Disease Area Medical Lead, you’ll shape strategy, inspire a high-performing team, and work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to deliver real impact for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a team of Medical Affairs professionals within the Ophthalmology space
• Set strategic direction across the disease area and align medical plans with broader business goals
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with therapy area experts and healthcare professionals
• Drive a strong culture of compliance and ethical medical governance
• Champion continuous improvement and innovation across Medical Affairs functions

Requirements:

• Proven experience in Medical Affairs
• Experience within Ophthalmology
• Strong leadership skills, including direct or matrix team management
• Strategic mindset with strong knowledge of the treatment landscape, evidence generation, and customer engagement
• Confident navigating regulatory and ABPI compliance requirements
• Collaborative communicator, relationship builder, and problem-solver
