With a mission to democratise access to transformative AI tools, they are now looking to hire a talented and proactive Legal Counsel to support the business across intellectual property, data privacy, and commercial transactions.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment and partner closely with senior leadership across global teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial agreements including licensing, SaaS, NDAs, and strategic partnerships.
- Develop and implement the company’s IP strategy, including trademarks, patents, open-source compliance, and licensing frameworks.
- Advise on global data privacy and protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, HIPAA, and other international regulations.
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and assess privacy/security risks.
- Provide legal support to Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and HR teams to help align legal risk with business objectives.
- Improve and maintain legal templates, policies, playbooks, and internal processes.
- Drive scalable legal operations and support continuous improvement across legal functions.
- Deliver pragmatic, business-focused legal advice to internal stakeholders and leadership.
Candidate Profile
Required Experience & Skills:
- 5+ years of relevant post-qualification experience, ideally including time in-house at a SaaS or technology company.
- Strong understanding of data privacy and protection frameworks including GDPR.
- Experience with commercial transactions, especially B2B SaaS agreements and technology licensing.
- Familiarity with open-source software licensing and compliance obligations.
- Proven ability to deliver clear, actionable legal guidance in a dynamic business setting.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, process-improvement mindset with strong business acumen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a start-up or scale-up environment.
- Background in cybersecurity law is a plus.
