The Role:

  • This role is for a professional technician to make, assemble and test battery packs for our unmanned vehicles. The role involves a diverse range of wiring and building tasks for a talented, flexible, and passionate technician with experience in electronics, and electrical build in manufacturing. This person must embrace the challenge of producing outstanding results on his/her own without the need for constant supervision.
  • The ideal candidate will have a few years of experience in soldering cables, building harnesses, crimping connectors, and general hands-on skills. We expect applicants to have proven dexterity, to be quick and to enjoy building complex systems.
  • Experience with battery systems is not required for this role but is desired.


Tasks and Accountabilities:

As part of this role you will be responsible for undertaking activities such as:


  • Battery assembly, such as soldering (PCB or wires), crimping and general avionics wiring/assembly.
  • Make and install wiring looms, circuit boards and other electronic hardware.
  • Assemble battery frames, and other mechanical hardware.
  • Use power tools with precision and in a safe manner.
  • Report on Quality Control issues and managing documentation.
  • Test and follow quality assurance procedures.
  • Able to multitask and work in a high pressure and task-oriented environment.


Required Skills


Essential Skills and Experiences:

  • Must be able to demonstrate hands on experience in previous roles as an assembly technician, or engineering.
  • Must be able to solder and understand basic electrical wiring.
  • Must be adaptable and open to change to work in a fast-paced growing business.
  • Fluent with Excel, Word.
  • Strong focus on quality and customer pride.
  • Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK.


Desirable:

  • Previous experience doing wiring/assembly in the aerospace industry will be of additional interest.
  • Previous experience working with Lithium-Ion cells.
  • Previous experience working with a spot-welding machine.


Principal Terms and Conditions

  • Start – ASAP.
  • Location – Kidlington, Oxfordshire UK.
  • Post – Permanent.
  • Working time 37.5 hrs per week.
  • Salary – to be agreed depending on experience.
  • Pension – 10% contribution from the company included plus a Salary Exchange for AVCs.
  • Leave – 25 days plus bank holidays.

  • Eligible to participate in BAE Systems Share Incentive Scheme.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme.
