About the Job:

Global Legal Counsel

London

Reporting to: Senior Counsel


SSQ is partnered with a leading global consumer goods company that is seeking a Global Legal Counsel to join its Legal function in London. This opportunity sits within the organisation’s fast-growing global portfolio, supporting the strategic development and global marketing of regulated consumer products.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide high-quality, solution-oriented legal and regulatory advice to global marketing teams on matters such as product development, marketing communications, brand campaigns, and category-specific claims.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks across areas such as responsible marketing, underage access prevention, consumer protection, intellectual property, competition law, and data privacy.
  • Offering guidance to regional and local legal teams as well as cross-functional stakeholders across commercial, compliance, and regulatory affairs.
  • Collaborate with the operations legal team to draft and review contracts supporting global marketing activities.
  • Educate and empower business teams by delivering legal training sessions and creating user-friendly tools and guides.
  • Analyse emerging regulatory trends and legal developments that may impact product marketing strategies across key markets.
  • Actively contribute to cross-functional projects within the product category, supporting commercial objectives while managing legal and reputational risks.


Candidate requirements


  • Qualified lawyer with 8+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally including in-house experience within a regulated industry.
  • Proven expertise in commercial and regulatory law.
  • Comfortable operating at a global level, balancing legal considerations with business strategy and risk.
  • Commercially minded, pragmatic, and capable of providing concise advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence across functions.
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset, with the ability to manage complexity and adapt to changing regulatory environments.
  • Background in FMCG, healthcare, digital marketing, or another heavily regulated industry (ideal).
