Role: In-House Counsel – Real Estate Focus

Location: London-based

Reporting To: Senior Vice President, Legal


SSQ is partnering with a major global investment firm with over $18 billion in assets under management to recruit an in-house legal counsel. This firms focus is real estate equity, credit, and private equity investments across sectors such as residential, hospitality, commercial, and lifestyle. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded and highly motivated 3-5 PQE Real Estate or Corporate Real Estate lawyer to join a growing legal team based in London.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Advise on and manage real estate transactions, including acquisitions, sales, developments, and financings.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of legal documents, including:

1 Real Estate: asset sale and purchase agreements, development funding agreements, development and asset management agreements, complex lease and agreements for lease.

2 Corporate/Funds: share sale and purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, limited partnership agreements.

3 Finance: complex real estate acquisition and development finance, mezzanine loans, bridge loans and intercreditor agreements.

4 Commercial: management and operating agreements.

  • Liaise with external counsel and manage legal service providers effectively.
  • Provide legal support across sectors such as residential, logistics, hospitality, student housing, office, and experiential real estate.
  • Prepare and review ancillary documents including NDAs, term sheets, governance documents, and engagement letters.


Candidate Requirements:

  • UK-qualified solicitor with 3–5 PQE from England & Wales (or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in real estate law, with interest in both property and corporate transactions.
  • Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance legal risk with business priorities.
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to build relationships across departments with different stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to prioritise effectively, and comfortable working under pressure.
