Job description

I'm currently working in close partnership with a specialist SEN school in North London, as they look to appoint a new Headteacher.


This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dedicated and well-resourced school that caters for pupils aged 5 to 16, primarily with autism spectrum conditions and complex additional needs. The school has a strong, experienced staff team and a clear, inclusive ethos that places each child’s wellbeing and potential at the heart of everything they do.

The Role

The school is seeking a strategic, compassionate, and experienced leader to take on the Headteacher role and guide the school into its next chapter. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing clear leadership, vision, and direction for pupils and staff
  • Ensuring high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning for a diverse cohort
  • Leading safeguarding and SEND provision across the school
  • Working closely with the Governing Body, families, and external agencies
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, reflection, and staff development



The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)essential
  • Has Headteacher experience within a SEN or specialist school setting
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of autism, sensory needs, and behaviour support
  • Leads with emotional intelligence, high expectations, and clear communication
  • Is committed to empowering pupils, staff, and families through inclusive, aspirational leadership
