Main Responsibilities:

  • The role centres on managing housing benefit claims in Brent and supporting vulnerable residents.
  • You'd be handling administrative tasks like collecting documentation, processing applications, and coordinating to the team to ensure all information requested is collated by you alongside your line manager before providing weekly reports to management team.
  • There's also involvement in Universal Credit applications and facilitating new tenant move-ins across boroughs.
  • This role is a specialised recovery role focused on resolving stuck housing benefit cases for vulnerable residents in supported accommodation.

Purpose of Role: You'd be dealing with residents whose housing benefit claims have been rejected or suspended, meaning they're facing rent arrears and housing instability. There are rejection letters which need collecting, these are the cases that need urgent attention. Subsequently there are a further more which are being assessed that will need monitoring and information collated and submitted in a timely manner, ensuring HB deadlines are adhered to at all times.


Housing Support Experience is Essential:

  • Understanding exempt accommodation regulations and how HB applies differently
  • Experience working with vulnerable client groups who may have complex needs
  • Knowledge of what documentation is typically required and how to help residents obtain it
  • Understanding the relationship between support workers, residents, and benefits systems
  • Familiarity with local authority processes and how to navigate bureaucratic challenges


Performance-Based Structure:

The bonus being tied to getting cases into payment means your success will be measured by actual outcomes - converting rejected/suspended claims into active payments and filling voids
