Location: Hull, UK (with travel to Wyton site every other week)

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)

Additional: Occasional weekend work required


We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Biospecimen Laboratory Supervisor to lead and coordinate laboratory operations across a range of diagnostic services. This is a pivotal role overseeing multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring high standards of regulatory compliance and scientific output.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate daily laboratory operations across the following diagnostic services:
  • Biospecimen
  • Microbiology
  • Molecular Biology
  • Serology
  • Parasitology
  • Provide supervision, mentorship, and daily management to a team of 3–5 laboratory staff.
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with relevant regulatory and quality assurance (QA) standards.
  • Monitor workflow efficiency and ensure optimal use of laboratory resources and personnel.
  • Maintain oversight of laboratory safety, compliance documentation, and SOP adherence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management to support operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Travel to the Wyton site once every two weeks to provide supervision and support for lab operations there.


Key Requirements:

  • Education: Degree in Bio-Medical Sciences, Bio-Veterinary Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial laboratory role is essential.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory QA/QC protocols and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to another site bi-weekly (expenses covered).


Desirable:

  • Previous experience working across multiple diagnostic service areas.
  • Familiarity with veterinary diagnostics or biospecimen handling.
