Job description

We are looking for a Senior Planner to join a leading planning consultancy, based from their Newcastle office. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and delivering a variety of exciting planning projects, providing strategic advice, and contributing to the growth and success of the company. Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex planning projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Provide expert planning advice to clients, including developers, landowners, and local authorities, on a wide range of planning issues.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and other relevant documents to local planning authorities.
  • Conduct site appraisals, feasibility studies, and environmental assessments.
  • Represent clients at planning committee meetings, public inquiries, and other forums as required.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and local planning authorities.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, providing guidance and fostering their professional development.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in planning legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including preparing proposals, attending networking events, and identifying new business opportunities.

 

Qualifications

  • A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligibility for chartered status.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant planning experience
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex planning projects.
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite and GIS.
