Venn Group is excited to partner with a London Borough to recruit a HR and Payroll Workstream Lead to cover all aspects of HR, including, and not limited to HCM, Payroll, Recruitment & Onboarding, Learning, MI, Case Management, and Pay and Reward.

The successful candidate will ensure leadership alignment and an understanding of the HR workstream ambition, strategic direction, and roadmap to mobilise HR resources and support for this multi-year transformation.


Length: 3 month rolling

Salary: £600 per day Ltd

IR35 status: Outside IR35


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the HR workstream, ensuring resources are well-planned and managed, the workstream plan is regularly reviewed, team members are well-supported to deliver their tasks, risks and issues are identified and addressed, and key outputs and outcomes are delivered according to plan tolerances.
  • Lead on the implementation phase of HR delivery and payroll and work collaboratively with other workstream leads across the wider councils programme to ensure that modern, flexible, and integrated solutions are implemented in alignment with the programme and workstream design principles.
  • Support the identification of key cultural and behavioural challenges to realise the councils ambition and collaborate with the change management workstream lead to ensure the council is best placed for successful transformation.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Extensive ERP (including Payroll) delivery experience, preferably within in the public sector
  • Proven ability of leading a workstream focused on technology transformation, operational improvements to structures and procedures, and change management
  • A strong understanding of the current and emerging HR technology landscape
  • Credibility both at a senior level and across the organisation, as the successful candidate will report into and engage with senior executives and advise on progress and challenges
  • A highly developed organisational awareness and ability to understand sensitivities within a complex multi-stakeholder and political organisation
  • Ability to influence without formal authority across organisational boundaries and ability to raise sensitive issues
  • Leadership experience of supporting, developing and guiding team members and ensuring they are clear on their responsibilities and are held to account for their delivery
  • Ability to identify required action and possible barriers to progress, prioritises, align necessary resources, manage dependencies and plan as necessary
  • Takes ownership for supporting delivery against commitments, despite challenges, difficulties, and workload
