Freelance Design Coordinator – Re-Cladding Projects | London | Up to £350/day

Location: London (hybrid available)

Contract Type: Freelance (outside IR35)

Day Rate: Up to £350/day

Start Date: ASAP

Sector: Tier 1 Main Contractor – Re-Cladding Projects

We're working with a Tier 1 building contractor who are seeking a Freelance Design Coordinator to support a series of re-cladding and façade remediation schemes across London. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-performing project team on technically challenging, safety-critical works.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Coordinate and review design information from external consultants and supply chain
• Manage design approvals in line with programme requirements
• Support compliance with building safety regulations, especially around fire strategy and cladding performance
• Liaise between project, site and design teams to ensure information flow and coordination
• Work closely with commercial and planning teams to manage risks and support value engineering

‍♂ About You:

• Proven experience as a Design Coordinator or Design Manager within the main contracting environment
• Strong background in re-cladding, façade, or remediation projects
• Solid knowledge of current UK building regulations, particularly post-Grenfell compliance
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment
• Able to work independently, with strong communication and coordination skills

✅ Requirements:

• Experience working with Tier 1 or reputable Tier 2 contractors
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM coordination tools, and document control systems (e.g., Aconex, Asite, Viewpoint)
• Availability to start within 2–4 weeks (sooner preferred)
