Are you an experienced IT leader ready to take on a people-first management role in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment? This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a team of 11 skilled professionals ranging from junior support engineers to senior network and infrastructure specialists.

In this position, you’ll be responsible for managing day-to-day team operations, performance, and development—not hands-on technical work. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders and customers to ensure the delivery of high-quality support services across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line functions.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading a diverse team of support and infrastructure engineers, overseeing workload distribution, performance, and development
  • Managing service performance, workflow allocation, and absence reporting
  • Acting as a liaison between technical teams and senior leadership, providing clear updates and performance insights
  • Assisting in customer communications and supporting leadership on performance-related reviews
  • Collaborating closely with software support and delivery teams during deployments
  • Creating and maintaining documentation for processes, workflows, and performance tracking
  • Contributing to recruitment activities and team structure planning
  • Participating in Change Management and acting as a member of the Change Advisory Board (CAB)
  • Monitoring KPIs and SLAs to ensure service desk efficiency

What You Need:

  • Demonstrable experience in performance management and team leadership (ideally 5+ direct reports)
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, especially within the Microsoft/Windows stack (Windows OS, Windows Server, Exchange, AD, VMware)
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and hardware (Cisco and/or Juniper)
  • Comfortable working alongside software delivery teams during deployments
  • Able to produce, analyze, and present team performance reports
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and skilled at documentation
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills – able to communicate effectively with customers, engineers, and senior management
  • Experience in recruitment and developing junior team members
  • Knowledge of ITIL principles (certification a plus; full training provided if not yet qualified)
  • Linux knowledge is desirable

What’s on Offer:

  • 26 days annual leave + public holidays (with option to buy 3 more)
  • Generous pension – double matching up to 10%
  • Life assurance and healthcare benefits
  • Flexible benefits package (travel, dental, critical illness cover and more)
  • No on-call duties
  • Flexible working options for report writing or personal commitments like school runs
  • Access to formal and on-the-job training for continuous career growth

This is a great role for someone looking to step into a strategic and people-focused leadership position while staying close to technology and service delivery. If you’re a motivated manager with a background in IT support or infrastructure and want to lead a capable, collaborative team—this could be your next step.
