Chief Financial Officer

Location: South East London

Reporting to: Managing Partner

Package: Competitive base salary plus performance incentives. The successful candidate will participate in economic gain—via phantom equity or equivalent.

Attributes and Requirements


Strategic

· Contribute to the development of the organisation’s financial strategy.

· Produce forecasts that assess the long-term financial trends and consider various scenarios around future income and new services, based on management information.

· Proven ability to design forward-looking financial models that align valuation growth with key operational and strategic drivers, incorporating metrics and activities that underpin long-term value creation

· Provide financial support to senior management to help the company achieve its short- and long-term objectives.

· Review reports and analyse projections of sales and income against actual figures and suggest methods of improving the planning process (including time utilisation and service line profitability in a time-based business model).


Financial Control and Reporting

· Evaluate and improve internal controls, accounting policies and procedures, and monitor compliance to protect the assets of the group.

· Report relevant financial data effectively and at the right time.

· Experienced in working in different jurisdictions and dealing with their regulatory and reporting requirements.


Financial Management

· All-round sound knowledge of basic financial management including financial accounting, management accounting, compliance and taxation.

· Proactively manage cash, keep the Board informed of cash availability and funding needs, and identify treasury solutions as necessary.

· Experienced in working with budgets and processes to control costs and support management decisions.

· Ensure the organisation receives value for money from its contracts with suppliers.


Interpersonal

· Confident in listening, understanding, and explaining.

· Able to effectively present and explain data to the team, the Board, investors, and other stakeholders (including banks, auditors, insurance advisors).

· Able to empathise and appreciate alternative points of view and to educate and contribute, in a supportive way, to decisions that achieve organisational goals.

· Able to develop individuals and teams using various techniques including mentoring and training.

· Able to communicate effectively with teams with different cultures and in different locations.

· Know when to seek management and/or specialist views and advice before acting.


Prerequisites / Essential Requirements

· Holds a recognised CCAB accountancy qualification or equivalent.

· Worked in a senior financial role (CFO or Group FD or similar) for at least 5 years requiring hands-on involvement.

· Worked with SMEs with a Board containing non-execs and/or external investors or their representatives.

· Experience of supporting M&A transactions and investment readiness.

· Experience of working with businesses in professional services or similar.

· Worked in a high-growth organisation.

· Worked in a business that has raised equity (institutions/private equity/markets).

· Familiar with Sage Intacct (or similar) accounting software.

· Used Excel regularly.


Preferred but not essential

· Experience operating within, or strong adaptability to, a partner-led LLP structure, where financial leadership involves managing complex stakeholder relationships and consensus-driven decision-making
