LEAD DATA SCIENTIST – CREDIT

£90,000

HYBRID – UK

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead credit risk decisioning at a fast-growing fintech. You will be the go-to expert for credit strategy, owning model development and deployment, and helping shape the company’s lending performance.

THE ROLE

You can expect to be involved in the following day-to-day:

• Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of credit and affordability models, from data sourcing to production monitoring.
• Work with a range of data types, including bureau, open banking, and behavioural data.
• Own the development and execution of decisioning strategies, including champion/challenger experiments.
• Analyse portfolio performance and recommend strategic changes based on data insights.
• Partner with engineering teams to deploy models into production systems.
• Work closely with key stakeholders to align data-driven decisions with business goals.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 5–7 years of experience in a consumer credit environment, particularly in decision science or data science.
• Strong technical skills in Python (including libraries like scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM).
• Experience working with transactional data and credit bureau sources.
• Familiarity with model monitoring and performance tracking frameworks.
• Proficient SQL skills for querying and data transformation.
• Bonus: experience with unsupervised learning techniques, alternative credit data, or working in a startup/scale-up setting.
