CFO - PE Buy & Build

Remote - Occasional Travel

£150,000 - £180,000 + Equity


A privately backed investment group is building a new IT-focused platform, backed by significant equity and a strong acquisition pipeline. The team, made up of experienced entrepreneurs and operators, has a track record of scaling businesses through M&A and organic growth.


They are seeking a CFO to build the finance function, lead integration, and support the business through rapid expansion. The role will work closely with an M&A lead and will evolve as the platform expands internationally.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and deliver a long-term financial strategy aligned with commercial objectives, contributing to wider business planning and decision-making.
  • Oversee financial planning cycles, including budgeting, forecasting, liquidity management and scenario modelling.
  • Establish scalable, efficient financial processes and systems to support rapid growth and integration of acquired companies.
  • Lead financial aspects of acquisitions, including due diligence, valuation, structuring and post-deal integration. Ensure robust financial governance across the group.
  • Deliver timely and accurate reporting across internal and external stakeholders, including board reporting, fund valuations and performance analytics.
  • Maintain oversight of financial compliance, regulatory obligations and risk frameworks.
  • Recruit and lead a high-calibre finance team, fostering a performance culture and supporting career development as the business scales.


About You:

  • Significant experience as a CFO, Finance Director or equivalent, ideally within a fast-paced, private equity-backed or acquisitive environment
  • Track record of designing and implementing finance functions from inception
  • Strong grasp of corporate finance, commercial analysis, and performance metrics
  • Big Four audit background preferred (Transaction Services or Investment Banking also interesting)
  • Deep knowledge of financial legislation, compliance, and risk management
  • Technically strong with excellent forecasting, modelling, and data analysis skills
  • Qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, CA, CFA) with a strong academic track record
  • Experience or interest in the Cyber, Technology or Software sectors
  • Highly commercial and strategic thinker with excellent influencing skills
  • Self-motivated, hands-on and resilient, thrives in early-stage and high-change environments
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects independently and at pace
