Hatched Talent Solutions is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor in Greater Bristol Area

Job description

Assistant / Junior Quantity Surveyor

Bristol | Full-Time |

Hatched Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading commercial interiors business to recruit an Assistant / Junior Quantity Surveyor.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop their commercial skills and gain hands-on experience within a high-quality fit-out and interiors company. You’ll work closely with an experienced Contracts Manager and wider project teams, supporting cost management across a portfolio of exciting projects.

The Role

As an Assistant / Junior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be involved in all aspects of project cost control — helping to set up sub-contractor packages, prepare valuations, manage variations, and support final account agreements. You’ll gain valuable experience in financial reporting, commercial negotiations, and contract administration.

This is a role that offers great exposure, ongoing learning, and the chance to grow into a more senior Quantity Surveyor position within a business that values development and promotes from within.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and submitting monthly valuations to clients
  • Support review and approval of subcontractor valuations
  • Help manage sub-contractor orders and contracts
  • Assist with cost tracking, billing forecasts, and financial reporting
  • Support pricing of variations and negotiation of changes
  • Help with the management of project documentation and files
  • Attend and minute valuation meetings with clients and subcontractors
  • Work with the wider team to identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings
  • Support preparation of final accounts

What We’re Looking For

This is an ideal role for someone with a background in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management — either as a graduate, apprentice, or with some practical experience already gained in the industry.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Either a degree, diploma, or apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (or relevant experience)
  • Some experience supporting project cost management (internship, placement, or junior role) is desirable but not essential
  • A strong interest in commercial fit-out or interiors
  • Good organisational and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams)
  • Eagerness to learn and develop professionally
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Why Apply?

This is a great chance to join a stable, growing business where you’ll be supported to develop your career and gain valuable experience in a busy commercial team. You’ll be working on varied and exciting projects with plenty of scope for future progression.

You’ll enjoy:

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • A supportive team and a clear development path
  • The chance to work on high-profile fit-out projects
  • Long-term career growth with opportunities for progression
