OVERVIEW:
We are a global operator committed to be at the forefront of the global energy transition.
In our mission to lead the transformation of the energy market, we are currently looking for a Legal Counsel to join our UK Business Unit.
As part of our legal department, you will play a key role in supporting the business teams in London, and the teams in our headquarters in Madrid. You will work directly with a range of stakeholders, including project managers, developers, project partners and external legal partners.You will provide, and support in the provision of critical legal support in areas such as project development, project financing, equipment supply, balance of plant and other construction contracts, shareholders agreements, SPAs and regulatory compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The ideal candidate will bring solid legal experience, strong commercial acumen, and a passion for renewable energy. Examples of specific tasks are set out below:
- Provide legal support to the Business Unit (BU) with respect to utility-scale renewable and energy transition projects (primarily BESS).
- Research, review, interpret, draft and negotiate project documents such as power purchase agreements, EPC, Equipment Supply and Balance of Plant agreements and O&M Agreements.
- Research, review, interpret, draft and negotiate financing documents.
- Manage and supervise outside counsel within budgetary constraints; review and approve outside counsel invoices.
- Assist with management of litigation and other dispute resolution processes.
- Assist with management of regulatory affairs relating to the BU business.
- Provide regular reports to and participate in meetings with the Chief Legal Officer.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERTISE:
- Law degree from a leading law school.
- +5 years of professional legal work experience.
- 3+ years of relevant experience at a major law firm or with a sophisticated in-house legal department with a focus on project finance, construction and development of energy transition projects.
- Ability to work under a fast, demanding professional environment is a must.
