Onboarding Officer in Bridgwater
Altrad UK, Ireland & Nordics is looking for an Onboarding Officer in Bridgwater
Job description
At Altrad, we’re not just a support services company – we’re the critical human infrastructure that keeps the UK and Ireland’s most vital industries moving. With over 10,000 talented individuals across the region, our people power the extraordinary – delivering innovative solutions that make a real impact on millions of lives.
We’re driven by ambition, creativity, and a collective commitment to excellence. At Altrad, no two days are the same, and no idea is too small. We value fresh thinking, big-picture problem solving, and people who are ready to rise to a challenge.
You’ll be working closely with the NNB vetting teams, making sure new staff are fully cleared and ready to get on-site — and fast. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on responsibility, enjoys following process, and is motivated by accuracy and speed.
Key Responsibilities:
As our Onboarding and Vetting Officer, you’ll be a key player in our pre-employment program. From the moment a candidate enters our system to the moment they step onto site, you’ll be driving the process forward with professionalism and precision.
- You’ll be inputting accurate data into our WIMS system
- You’ll liaise with applicants to request and gather vetting documents and information
- You’ll be collating and checking all required information for the HPC pre-employment screening, using our in-house portal
- You’ll submit completed vetting cases to NNB for approval via WIMS
- You’ll manage the onboarding process to ensure staff are ready to work as quickly and efficiently as possible
- You’ll process DBS checks and verifying ID to meet legal standards
- You’ll keep a tight grip on document management and ensuring all paperwork is up-to-date and compliant
- You’ll monitor vetting records and ensuring qualifications remain current
- You’ll identify existing NSV clearances and handling transfer requests when required
What You’ll Bring to the Role:
We’re after someone who is not only organised and diligent but who can also work under pressure and stay calm when things get busy. You’ll need to be a confident communicator and someone who’s comfortable working across systems and with multiple teams.
- You have a Modern Apprenticeship in Business Administration, or equivalent relevant experience
- You’re CITB HS&E Operators Certified
- You have a proven track record in high-quality administration, ideally in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment
- You have experience of vetting (but not a requirement)
- The ability to hold NSV clearance (if required)
- You have strong IT skills and experience using administrative systems
- You have the ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- You’re able to work to tight deadlines while juggling multiple tasks
What we offer:
We know that great people do great work when they’re supported, valued, and inspired. That’s why we offer:
- A competitive salary
- 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
- The chance to work on one of the UK’s most ambitious nuclear projects
- A culture that rewards ingenuity, fosters personal growth, and celebrates success
At Altrad, your journey starts with a commitment to build a better tomorrow – for our clients, our communities, and your career.
