The Role:
We’re looking for an experienced civils Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team at a pivotal time for the business.
We’ve recently secured a £13.5 million contract to deliver a landmark renewable energy project set in the South Lanarkshire hills, around 14km north-east of Biggar. This is part of a series of major projects that we will be delivering through a national energy framework, giving us a strong pipeline of long-term work in the area.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring robust cost control, efficient procurement, and effective contract administration, all of which are vital to the successful delivery of our projects.
Responsibilities
As Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:
- Lead the commercial management of projects, ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting.
- Manage variations, claims, and contractual notifications in line with contractual obligations and company procedures.
- Prepare and review contract documentation, including involvement in pre-contract negotiations and regular cost reporting.
- Liaise effectively with clients, employers’ commercial teams, and subcontractors to support seamless project delivery.
- Oversee procurement planning and subcontractor management, ensuring effective change control processes are in place.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, preparing and agreeing interim applications for payment and final accounts.
- Implement robust value engineering and risk management strategies to maximise project performance.
- Reconcile weekly costs for plant, materials, and labour against budget to maintain financial control.
Who You Are
We’re looking for a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will bring experience in civil engineering or earthworks. You’ll be confident building strong relationships with stakeholders and thrive in a collaborative team environment. A solid understanding of the UK infrastructure sector is essential.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven commercial experience in civil engineering or earthworks projects
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification
- A working knowledge of multiple types of construction contracts.
- Full UK driving licence
