Cumming Group, a Cost and Project Management Consultancy within the construction industry, provides a wide range of services to clients spanning several different sectors.

Cumming Group are seeking to recruit a Managing Quantity Surveyor in Buckingham.


The role of a Managing Quantity includes the following responsibilities:

Required to be an experienced QS, knowledgeable, adaptable and able to provide the full range of QS services.


Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Financial delivery – meet and ideally exceed the targets set by the business
  • Client management – with the support of the directors assume responsibility for the management, liaison and servicing of clients
  • Compliance/Ethics - ensure that Cumming Group company standards are adhered to on all works undertaken
  • Operational delivery – ensure the successful delivery of contracts you and your responsible staff are dealing with, in a timely manner and to the highest standards
  • Representation – be a visible public face of the business as appropriate
  • Business development – Deliver organic growth with existing clients. With the support of the directors Identify and source new opportunities and clients to support the ongoing growth of the business
  • Office management – take responsibility for the day-to-day practical and office management aspects of the office

  • Management and delivery of Cumming Group commissions – fee earning projects
  • Support Cumming Group to meet, and preferably exceed, financial targets of the business
  • The co-ordination, management, and development of Cumming Group Staff
  • Line management responsibilities
  • Support, develop and improve the professional and interpersonal skills of the Cumming Group team
  • Ensure staff are aware of, and are delivering, their responsibilities
  • Ensure clients always receive an exemplary level of service and performance from yourself and the Cumming Group team
  • Always represent the company in a professional and confident manner


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Able to manage and coordinate a team of Quantity Surveyors
  • Be able to make informed decisions for the benefit of our clients and the business
  • Commercial negotiation skills
  • Energetic, self-motivated and able to take a flexible and adaptable approach
  • Demonstrable leadership and motivational qualities
  • Commercially astute and numerate
  • Possess clear and concise communication skills – written and spoken
  • Able to produce both summarised and detailed reports
  • Social Housing and Contractor QS experience (Essential)
