Head of Risk & Compliance – UK – Remote

A well-established, FCA-regulated payments provider is looking for a Head of Risk & Compliance to lead its UK regulatory and risk agenda. This newly created role has been introduced to support the company’s continued expansion. It offers a blend of hands-on responsibility and broader strategic influence across the group.

What makes this role distinctive?

• You will be the senior regulatory contact for the FCA in the UK.
• You will help shape group-wide risk frameworks, reporting to the UK CEO with a dotted line to the Group Chief Risk Officer, and working closely with colleagues in Ireland and the US.
• The remit combines regulatory reporting with wider strategic work to embed a strong first and second line of defence culture across the business.

What is needed?

• A background in payments and experience within a regulated financial services environment.
• Familiarity with FCA requirements—ideally you already hold SMF approval or are ready to be approved.
• Confidence to engage with the regulator, advise the board, and balance commerciality with compliance.
• The right mindset: proactive, pragmatic, and trusted to lead the function without being overly bureaucratic.
