Service Designer / User Researcher

Location: London (2 days onsite)

Duration: 6–12 month contract

Rate: £500/day (Inside IR35)

Clearance: Active SC clearance required

An opportunity to work on a high-impact public sector programme, contributing to the design and delivery of user-centred services in line with GDS standards.

We’re looking for a professional who can operate across both Service Design and User Research, bringing insight, clarity, and user-focused thinking to complex service challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead service design and user research activities through discovery, alpha and beta phases
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver end-to-end service improvements
• Conduct and synthesise research to inform service strategies
• Map current and future service journeys with a focus on accessibility and inclusion
• Present findings and design proposals to stakeholders at all levels
• Ensure alignment with GDS principles and best practices

Essential Experience:

• Strong background in public sector projects
• Proven track record working within GDS-aligned teams
• Ability to bridge the gap between user needs and service delivery
• Skilled in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration
• Active SC Clearance (mandatory)
