Job Title: Commercial Legal Counsel (3–6 PQE)

Location: Oxfordshire (Hybrid Working)

Contract Type: 6-Month FTC (Strong Potential to Convert to Permanent)

Start Date: ASAP


The Opportunity

SSQ is partnering with a well-known, international company on their search for a Commercial Legal Counsel. They're in the market for someone with 3-6 PQE to join their high-performing legal team on 6-month fixed-term basis, with a strong possibility of permanent conversion for the right candidate.


The position offers varied and interesting work across commercial contracts, data protection, and operational legal matters — ideal for a someone who enjoys being close to the business and working with cross-functional teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts (supplier, services, technology, sponsorship, etc.)
  • Advising on data protection matters, including data processing agreements and internal compliance procedures
  • Supporting legal input on manufacturing, procurement, and technical arrangements
  • Engaging with stakeholders across multiple departments to provide practical, business-friendly legal advice
  • Assisting with broader risk management and compliance initiatives within the legal function


Candidate Profile


Essential:

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with 3–6 years’ PQE
  • Must be able to come into their Oxfordshire office 3 x per week
  • Solid commercial contracts experience
  • Good working knowledge of UK data protection regulations (UK GDPR)
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving, commercially driven environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills


Desirable:

  • In-house experience within a product-led, engineering or technology-driven organisation
  • Interest in working in an agile, performance-focused business
