Autism Teacher

We are working closely with a specialist autism school who are looking for an experienced and qualified teacher with experience of teaching pupils with Autism. September start date on a long-term contract with the immediate option of progressing to a permanent contract after just one term. We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Autism Teacher to provide high-quality, individualized education and support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The successful candidate will create a structured and supportive classroom environment that fosters academic, social, emotional, and behavioural growth for students with autism.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualised Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs.
  • Provide differentiated instruction using evidence-based strategies for students with autism.
  • Create a structured, sensory-aware, and autism-friendly classroom environment.
  • Use positive behavioural interventions and supports (PBIS) to promote appropriate behaviors.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistent instruction and support.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional plans accordingly.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.
  • Provide social skills training and help students build communication and independence.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records in compliance with local and national regulations.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training related to autism and special education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Valid state teaching license with Special Education endorsement.
  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies for students with autism.
