The Role

Do you have a sharp eye for detail and a solid understanding of building construction? Ready to take ownership of tendering projects and make a real impact?


We are an established building contractor based in Norwich, seeking an experienced Estimator to join our dedicated team due to a staff retirement.


You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a range of building projects. This full-time, permanent role is based at our Head Office in Norwich and will suit someone who can work independently, with strong construction knowledge and excellent negotiation skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse tender documents and client requirements
  • Produce precise costings, including materials, labour, subcontractor and equipment
  • Assess risk and cost effectively with a sound commercial understanding
  • Source and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
  • Maintain and use estimating software and databases
  • Visit proposed sites to gather accurate project data
  • Liaise with clients, architects, and internal teams
  • Provide handover to Contracts Managers and Quantity Surveyors
  • Attend meetings related to tenders and ongoing projects

The Person

  • Previous experience in a similar estimating role within construction
  • Strong knowledge of building processes and project costing
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
  • Methodical and well-organised with great attention to detail
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with clients and colleagues
