Legal Counsel - Financial Services (12 month FTC) in London

Job description

Our client, a leading brokerage, is looking to appoint a Legal Counsel to join their London based in-house team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

This is a great opportunity to join a fast-paced, global business in a varied and commercially focused legal role. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you'll collaborate with senior stakeholders across the Group to support business operations and help manage legal risk.

What you’ll be doing:

• Providing timely, pragmatic legal advice across a wide range of commercial and contractual matters.
• Advise on areas including IP, data protection, lease agreements and confidentiality agreements.
• Partner with the Compliance team to support the firm's regulated business and maintain alignment with FCA and international regulatory standards.
• Guide the business through contractual disputes and enforcement actions.
• Review IT and other service contracts to assist the Group IT Director and other stakeholders with group procurement.
• Provide legal assistance with any strategic developments, including M&A and joint ventures.
• Liaise with external legal advisers and other service providers, as required, to ensure the quality, efficiency and value of services.

What we’re looking for:

• Qualified solicitor (England and Wales) with strong in-house experience.
• Background in financial services or other FCA regulated environment is essential.
• Proven experience in a fast-paced business environment working closely with C-suite.
• Able to work autonomously on multiple and diverse matters at the same time.
• Strong commercial acumen and a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset.
