Employment Counsel – Financial Services (VP Level)

Location: London

Position: Full-time | Permanent

Seniority: Vice President (VP)

A dynamic financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Employment Counsel to join its legal team at Vice President level. This role will suit a pragmatic and commercially minded lawyer with either strong in-house experience in a fast-paced financial services setting (ideally investment banking), or a background in private practice advising financial institutions.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting employment legal matters across EMEA and beyond, partnering closely with stakeholders across Legal, HR, Compliance and senior business leaders. International experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise on a wide range of employment law matters across multiple jurisdictions
• Draft and negotiate employment documentation and manage updates to internal policies and handbooks
• Provide strategic and operational advice on employee relations, performance, grievance and disciplinary matters
• Support investigations and respond to regulatory and data privacy queries
• Develop and deliver internal training and legal guidance to HR and business teams
• Collaborate on the creation of presentations and reports for senior management
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and best practice initiatives within the legal team

Candidate Profile:

• Qualified solicitor with approx. 4-8 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE)
• Comprehensive understanding of employment legal issues specific to financial institutions
• Prior experience advising across international jurisdictions
• Comfortable navigating complex, sensitive matters in a high-pressure setting
• Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working with senior leadership
• A proactive, confident team player with excellent judgement and communication skills
