Logistics Team Leader


Portsmouth | Permanent, Full-Time | Aerospace Manufacturing

Working Hours: Monday–Thursday: 07:30 – 16:15, Friday: 07:30 – 16:00 and every other Friday off (9-day fortnight)


We’re now looking for a motivated and experienced Logistics Team Leader to join a Supply Chain team and play a key role in ensuring reliable and efficient material flow across a trusted leader in the aerospace sector, delivering safety-critical technologies to commercial and defence aviation. Based in Portsmouth, the company prides itself on its commitment to quality, innovation, and collaboration—values that are deeply embedded in everything they do.


Role Purpose:

You’ll be responsible for leading a team of logistics and dispatch operators, ensuring daily operations such as goods receipt, storage, inventory movement, and dispatch run safely and smoothly. As a visible leader on the shop floor, you'll promote best practices, drive continuous improvement, and support the wider production team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily logistics and dispatch operations, ensuring timely and accurate task completion.
  • Motivate and support logistics operators, creating a strong culture of accountability and teamwork.
  • Serve as the point of contact for materials movement and production readiness issues.
  • Ensure accuracy of all inventory transactions in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Manage stock handling, including bin control, linefeed replenishment, and investigations.
  • Champion health, safety, and 5S standards across all logistics activities.
  • Comply with export/import controls and HSE protocols.
  • Support cross-skilling and team flexibility through training.
  • Communicate performance updates and resource needs to the Group Leader.


What We're Looking For:

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • ERP/MRP experience (SAP or equivalent)
  • Solid understanding of warehouse/logistics processes
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities
  • Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and warehouse documentation

Desirable:

  • Experience in a similar team leader or senior logistics role, preferably in aerospace or manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Export/Import compliance
  • Experience with 5S, Lean, or other continuous improvement practices
  • Understanding of material traceability standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IOSH or Health & Safety at Work certification
  • COSHH Awareness
  • Training in Logistics or Supply Chain
