Civil Litigation Lawyer
£55,620 - £61,421 + Excellent Benefits | Permanent
Peterborough is growing and changing, and the City Council’s legal team is central to that journey. As a Civil Litigation Lawyer, you’ll advise on issues that directly affect residents and services, from judicial reviews to contract disputes, while being part of a supportive, highly regarded in-house team.
This is a broad, varied role where you’ll combine litigation with meaningful advisory work. Whether representing the council in court or guiding service teams through complex challenges, your expertise will help ensure that decisions are fair, robust, and in the best interests of the community.
What You’ll Do
Manage a varied caseload, with a focus on judicial review
Handle civil litigation, including contract disputes and regulatory matters
Represent the council in court (usually once a month)
Deliver clear, solutions-focused advice to service teams

What We’re Looking For
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEx Fellow
Strong litigation experience, ideally including judicial review
Confidence in both advisory work and court representation
Practical, solutions-driven approach and strong team ethic
