£49,764 – £53,895 + Excellent Benefits | Permanent | Hybrid (2 days in office)

This is a rare chance to take full ownership of employment law within a local authority. Peterborough City Council is hiring its first dedicated Employment Lawyer, a brand-new role where you’ll lead from day one and influence people policy across the organisation.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Advising on the full range of employment law issues
• Advise on complex tribunal cases
• Representing the Council in Employment Tribunals
• Working closely with HR to shape policy and reduce legal risk
• Drafting contracts, policies, settlement agreements, and guiding on investigations
• Advising on TUPE, restructures, and organisational change
• Leading on legal responses to employment-related complaints and procedures

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEx Fellow
• Strong employment law experience, including tribunal representation
• Confidence advising senior stakeholders and presenting legal advice clearly
• A strategic, pragmatic mindset with a collaborative working style
• Interest in shaping internal policy and being a trusted go-to advisor
