Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Street Lighting to lead the delivery of street lighting services on our Hertfordshire contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of maintenance, design, and installation services – ensuring compliance with KPIs, health and safety standards, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the safe and efficient delivery of the street lighting service in line with contract requirements and KPIs.
• Oversee budgets, ensuring effective spend aligned with the HCC service brief.
• Drive continuous improvement without compromising safety, quality, or performance.
• Provide technical support across design, maintenance, DMI, and EV charging point installations.
• Manage and support engineering and operational teams, promoting high staff morale and development.
• Foster strong working relationships with Hertfordshire County Council and within the wider Ringway team.

Person Profile

• Full UK Driving Licence
• HNC Electrical Engineering ILP External Lighting Diploma
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• SMSTS Card
• Proven experience managing street lighting operations.
• Strong knowledge of highway lighting systems and maintenance standards.
• Excellent leadership, commercial, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Understanding of CDM, health & safety, and asset management systems.
• Experience in budget control and performance monitoring.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in a street lighting managerial role.
• Experience working with, or for, local government.
