Overview
Gallagher’s Edinburgh Office is seeking a Schemes Account Handler to join their established team based in the city centre. This role will primarily be responsible for managing a high volume of scheme-based clients, with the full support of an experienced team. The key relationships are clients, the Appointed Representative (AR), and the insurer.
The primary scheme in the team is our Dentist Medical Malpractice Scheme which was established in 2012. It has been a fantastic growth success story and there are now over 5,000 clients being serviced on an annual basis.

How you'll make an impact
What you can expect:
- Responsibility for placing new policies, processing renewals and midterm adjustments for all scheme business
- Develop & champion working relationship with underwriters to ensure cover and product meets clients’ needs
- Advise clients on their policy cover and discuss other needs they may have
- Ensure all customer details are recorded accurately
- Handle enquiries in a professional manner by phone and email
- Work within set parameters of insurer’s delegated authority.
- Support account queries and credit control matters highlighting any concerns.
- Apply fundamental legal and regulatory policy in relation to internal policies and the insurance contract as required
About You
Skills and experience we're looking for:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, confident when building and maintaining relationships, strong planning and analytical skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Previous experience in the insurance industry would be an advantage or having worked to targets within a regulated or customer services environment.
- Risk aware in handling customer information, 100% customer-centric, focussed on the best possible outcome for our customers at all times.
- Due diligence and process driven to deadlines, task focused, results oriented and takes initiative when assisting team members.
- Proficient in MS office and solid understanding of client databases.
- Holding or working towards one of the Chartered Insurance Institute Qualifications, Dip CII or FIT would be advantageous.
